A GLIMPSE BEHIND THE SCENES

How does the Santa Rosa league run?

Our league had two different locations, Elise Allen High School and Southwest Community Park. Our Majors and Minors Baseball/Softball teams had practices and games at Elsie Allen while our T-Ball teams had theirs at Southwest Community Park. Both locations had a check-in table where coaches and team parents could grab their WOW packs and turn in items from their teams. Parents and volunteers seemed to like this set up as they knew where to go if they had any questions and it was the first thing they saw as they got to the field.

Communication is key

Email was key in our league. Once a week, the newsletter was sent to parents and volunteers to know what was going on. Parents appreciated these emails as it helped them see the bigger picture for the week. These weekly newsletters also helped maintain an open line of communication and make parents/volunteers feel okay to reach out if they had any questions.

Game reminders were also sent the day before. This served as a reminder especially since the time of games varied week to week. One of the field's that was used at Elsie Allen was further back and the reminders helped families get there a little bit earlier.

Communication with the Giants Community Fund was also essential. Our regional ambassador, Kenna, was helpful in answering questions immediately and sending reminders about information that was sent out from the Front Office. Our coordinator, Chrissy, was a tremendous help in the preseason, specifically with the transition to SportsEngine. She had great communication and made sure that the league got the Junior Giants information that was necessary.
